Meg Mims here -- a Michigander (er, greenhorn) and Spur Award winning author who loves writing historical books -- with lighthouses, mystery and a touch of romance. East or west, my settings have vivid imagery and research details. I loved reading Laura Ingalls Wilder and other historical books, watching High Chaparral and Bonanza on TV, both True Grit movie versions (although the Charles Portis' book is truly better!), westerns with the Duke and Maureen O'Hara, James Stewart, Joel McCrea, Clint Eastwood and Shirley Maclaine, Robert Duvall, Sam Elliott and even the Aussies Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
I loved writing Double Crossing, my version of "True Grit" mixed with Murder on the Orient Express using the 1869 transcontinental train as a setting, with a gritty yet sheltered heroine and a cowboy hero. I'm writing the sequel, Double or Nothing now, along with other genre fiction.
Please check out my

Yee-haw, and happy trails to you!
